Capital Medical University
Capital Medical University (CMU) ranks among the top academic medical institutions in China, with 10 Schools, 20 affiliated hospitals and 1 teaching institution. CMU and its affiliated hospitals have a staff of over 20,000; among them, over 1,000 professors, 2,000 associate professors and 10,000 enrolled students. CMU provides a wide range of educational programs for Doctorates, Masters, Bachelors and certificates. CMU has been well-funded by the MoST, China and also China National Sciences Foundation (NSFC). CMU has also been actively participating international collaborations, including the projects granted by WHO, NIH, Welcome Trust, EU-frame Projects, JSPS, NSF, NHMRC and Pasture Institute.
Prof W Wang is the ex-dean of School of Public Health and Family Medicine, CMU. Currently he is professor /director of the Centre of Excellence for Clinical Epidemiology, CMU. He holds the honorary positions as Fellow of the Public Health Faculty, Royal College of Physicians (UK), Fellow of Royal Society of Biology (UK); Visiting professor of University Edinburgh; Adjunct Professor of North Western University, Chicago, USA, and Adjunct Professor of University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, USA. Prof Wang’s contributions to medical sciences include service as an Australian National Representative of European Association of Predictive, Preventive and Personalized Medicine (EPMA), member of the expert panel advising WHO on its ‘Grand Challenges in Genomics for Public Health in Developing Countries’, steering committee member of OECD initiative on Public Health Genomics, and member of the Global Health Epidemiology Reference Group, (GHERG).
